Ilorin: The Challenge Initiative (TCI) has disclosed that Condoms, Injections, and Implants are the most popular family planning methods adopted by clients in Kwara over the last three years.

Dr Adebayo Adefila, the Kwara Programme Manager, disclosed this on Thursday in Ilorin during a media roundtable on Family Planning.

The programme is tagged: “Kwara Family Planning Progress: Sustaining Partnerships for Lasting Impact.”

Adefila disclosed that Kwara has recorded an additional 17,592 new users of family planning. He stated that TCI has expended over N45 million from 2022 to 2025 on family planning.

He added that the initiative has trained 65 master trainers, over 100 nurses and midwives for practical family planning activities in the state.

Adefila identified challenges such as stockouts, user fee charges in private hospitals, insecurity in some parts of the state, and method preference as some of the difficulties encountered during their three-year operation in Kwara.

In her welcome address, the State Family Planning Coordinator, Hajia Bashirat Jatto, stated that the state has ensured the regular procurement of FP commodities.

She mentioned that high-impact training for healthcare workers and targeted campaigns aim to boost family planning uptake among clients.
