Minna: The Police Command in Niger says it has arrested two robbery suspects in Suleja and recovered some stolen items from them.
This is contained in a statement by its Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, on Tuesday in Minna.
Abiodun said that on June 13, at about 2 a.m., a distress call was received at the ‘B’ Division, Suleja, that some suspected armed robbers were sighted around the APC Quarters area of the locality.
He said that upon receiving the call, the division’s Police patrol team, the command’s TST team, and some soldiers mobilised to the area.
” On sighting the security team, the robbers took to their heels, but the team gave them a hot chase. Two were apprehended at a mango forest along the Abuja-Kaduna expressway in the Gauraka area.
” The two suspects, aged 20 and 24 respectively, claimed to be indigenes of Kano State.
” We recovered from them exhibits including one axe, one knife, four bags, six wrappers, ten ATM cards, two purses, slippers, and other items believed to have been stolen,” he said.
The command’s image maker said that a preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects were robbers who dispossessed some lodgers in hotels and residences at APC Quarters 2 in Suleja.
He added that the suspects would soon be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation and diligent prosecution.
