Lagos: On Tuesday, Tomi Falase, Chairman of the Lagos Squash Association (LSA)  said that the next quarter of 2025 will focus on grassroots programmes for U-13 and U-16 players.

Falase told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the association has recently focused on organising events for U-19 players and elite level players.

According to him, 2025 has already been successful, with three competitions showcasing strong talent among U-19 boys ready to step up to the senior level.

He noted that one standout player is 17-year-old Quadri Yusuf, who has defeated several top-ranked players at the elite level.

“Yusuf is the man of the moment—intelligent, skilful, and incredibly hardworking in pursuing his goals.

“He’s the new kid on the block. We must support him in breaking into the international circuit, where he can continue his impressive form,” Falase said.

He added that players like Onaopemipo Adegoke, Olufunmilayo Gabriel, and Kehinde Samuel were also discovered at the grassroots level.

“Today, they are trailblazers, competing internationally and ranked among the best African players,” Falase said.

He also told NAN that the coming months will be packed with competitions involving players nationwide.

“We’re rolling out more competitions starting next month, aiming to discover junior talents nationwide.

“We believe the future is bright, and we’re committed to developing youths steadily through the ranks,” he said.
