29-year-old arraigned for alleged cash theft, phones valued at ₦710,000

Sango-Ota(Ogun): On Monday, 29-year-old Ellajah Ebenezer appeared before an Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun for allegedly breaking into a house and stealing N210,000 cash and two phones worth N500,000.

Ebenezer, whose address was not provided, faces a three-count charge of stealing, burglary and conspiracy.

He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Prosecutor, Insp E.O.Adaraloye, told the court that the defendant and others at large committed the offences on Feb.6 at No.7 Ademola Street, Alade Owode, Ota.

Adaraloye alleged that the defendant and his accomplices conspired to break into the house of the complainant, Okeleye Gbemiga, and steal N210,000 in cash and two phones worth N500,000, totaling N710,000.

He said the offences contravened Sections 390, 412, and 451 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun, 2006.

The Magistrate, Mrs O.O.Fadairo, granted the defendant bail of N200,000 with one surety in like sum.

Fadairo said the surety should reside within the court’s jurisdiction and be gainfully employed with evidence of tax payment to the Ogun Government.

He adjourned the case until June 30 for further hearing. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
