Fika ( Yobe): A development advocate, Alhaji Kashim Musa-Tumsah, on Saturday, donated two million naira to support victims of the recent devastating rainstorm in Fika town, Yobe.

Rain accompanied by strong wind wreaked havoc in the town on June 14, destroying over 300 houses and injuring no fewer than six residents of the area.

An eight-member committee, constituted by Musa-Tumsah, a lawyer, presented the cash support to the District Head of Fika, Alhaji Maina Mohammed, for onward disbursement to the victims.

Speaking at the occasion, the team leader, Alhaji Suleiman Joda, said that the lawyer was utterly devastated by the incident.

“Please consider this a modest support to the victims of the recent rainstorm in Fika town from Musa-Tumsah.

“The development advocate has expressed his sympathy to the victims and their loved ones and prayed to Allah to heal the injured and replenish their losses,” he said.

NAN reports that the team also paid a courtesy visit to the Emir of Fika, Dr Muhammadu Abali, during which special prayers were conducted for victims of the disaster.

In his remarks, Abali expressed gratitude to Musa-Tumsah for the donation and charged his subjects to always show solidarity during trying times.

He directed the district head to ensure that only victims of the disaster benefited from the donation.
