Lagos: The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, has urged APC’s new National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, to ensure party unity.

Obasa made this call in a congratulatory message issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Dave Agboola, in Lagos on Thursday.

Yilwatda was unanimously elected during the APC’s NEC meeting in Abuja.

President Bola Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, APC governors, and key stakeholders attended the meeting where Yilwatda emerged chairman.

Obasa described Yilwatda as well-suited for the role, commending his long-standing service in academia and contributions to Nigeria’s digital development.

He noted Yilwatda’s time as ICT Director at the Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi, and consultancy work with UNICEF, EU, and the World Bank.

Obasa also highlighted his roles as a Resident Electoral Commissioner and Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction.

He urged the new chairman to apply his vast experience in leading the APC forward.

“Prof. Yilwatda’s dedication to reforming public service through technology reflects the APC’s mission to advance communities and national development,” Obasa said.

He expressed confidence in Yilwatda’s blend of technocratic and political leadership.

Obasa believes this will strengthen party unity, boost support, and position APC for success in the 2027 elections.
