Fintiri Sets up 21-Member Committee to Manage Yola Flood Emergency

Yola: Gov. Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State has constituted a 21-member Relief and Post-Recovery Committee in response to the recent flooding in Yola South Local Government Area of the state.

Mr Humwashi Wonosikou, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, disclosed this in a statement issued on Friday in Yola. The flood, which occurred on Sunday, claimed 23 lives while many others were displaced.

The committee, chaired by the state deputy governor, Prof. Kaletapwa Farauta, also includes the Secretary to the state government, Awwal Tukur, as a member.

The committee also comprises representatives from various government agencies, security forces, and community leaders. Fintiri urged the committee to identify measures to bring succour to the affected communities and develop strategies for post-flood recovery.

He reassured the public that the government would do its best to ensure the safety and well-being of its residents.

“We are committed to providing relief and support to affected communities and working towards sustainable solutions to mitigate future disasters,” he said.

The governor further advised the committee to ensure fairness, transparency, and diligence in its work, with the ultimate goal of bringing relief and hope to the affected communities.
