Abuja: The Federal Government has commiserated with the government and people of Ghana following a tragic helicopter crash that claimed the lives of several top officials.
The victims include Ghana’s Minister of Defence, Dr Edward Boamah, and Minister of Environment, Ibrahim Muhammed, alongside others travelling to Obuasi on Wednesday.
This is contained in a statement issued on Thursday by Kimiebi Ebienfa, Spokesperson for Nigeria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
According to Ebienfa, Nigeria extends its deepest condolences to the government and people of Ghana over the unfortunate incident.
“This devastating incident has robbed Ghana of distinguished public servants and created a profound void in the West African region,” Ebienfa stated.
He described Boamah and Muhammad as committed leaders whose work in regional security and environmental sustainability would be greatly missed.
He stressed that Nigeria stands in solidarity with Ghana during this period of immense grief and prays for strength to bear the loss.
“We share in Ghana’s sorrow and pray for the peaceful repose of the departed. Our thoughts are with their families and the entire government.
