Police Nab Four over Truck Theft Conspiracy

Minna: The Niger Police Command says it has detained four persons for alleged conspiracy and theft of a truck on the Kaduna-Abuja Expressway, Dikko, Suleja.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Wasiu Abiodun, disclosed this in a statement issued to reporters in Minna on Monday.

Abiodun stated that at about 9:30 pm on August 12, Maje Division received credible intelligence that some people were planning to sell a suspected stolen truck on Kaduna Road, Kaduna-Abuja Expressway, Dikko, Suleja.

He added that based on the development,  the DPO of Maje Division led his patrol team to the scene and four suspects were caught in the process.

He listed their names as Abdulrahman Tijani, 26, from Ankpa, Kogi, and Musa Zakari, 24, from Kogi, who works as a motor boy for Tony Group of Companies in Edo.

Others included Ojo Joseph, 29, from Adogo, Kogi, and Mohammed Musa, 25, from Ajaokuta, Kogi.

“The suspects were caught with a yellow Howo Truck, with Reg. No. LKJ 370 XJ.

“During interrogation, Tijani confessed that he drove the said truck, which was under his care as a driver of the company, to Kaduna Road to sell,” Abiodun stated.

He added that both Joseph and Musa were mechanics and that Tijani hired them to accompany him in case the vehicle developed a problem on the way.

The PPRO explained that the company had since been contacted and confirmed with proof of ownership of the vehicle.

“The case will soon be transferred to SCID for further investigation,” he added.

He further stated that the command arrested two suspects for alleged vandalism in Minna.

He noted that on August 17, at about 3.30 pm, two people were sighted with some suspected vandalised iron around a hotel under construction along Hilltop Road, Minna.

He stated that based on the development, operatives from ‘B’ Div., Minna, moved to the scene and caught two suspects, including Zubairu Bello and Sulaiman Yusuf of Brighter Area, Minna.

He said that during interrogation, Bello claimed to be the security guard of the facility and that he was taking the iron to his house for safekeeping.

Abiodun said that both suspects were still undergoing investigation.
