by TheDiggerNews

Abuja: In response to growing demand and Abuja’s rising profile as a hub for international conferences and business travel, Ethiopian Airlines is set to enhance its service to Nigeria’s capital with the launch of new evening flights starting October 28.

Mrs Firiehiwot Mekonnen, the Area Manager, hinted at this through a statement issued on Wednesday, August 20, in Abuja.

She stated that the extra flights would be in the evening, while the daily flight would stay at midday.

“Passengers from Abuja will have increased options. The extra flights will offer immediate connections to many African and Asian destinations, which will reduce the total flight time for passengers.

“The extra flights from Abuja do not just offer more flights, they come with extra benefits, more baggage allowance. You can also get double miles if you fly with us.

“The extra baggage allowance is for passengers going to Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Madras, and Dubai. There will be three (3) evening flights at 10 p.m. The Daily Midday Flight will not change,“ she explained.

According to her, only the additional flights will have different times, “Evening departure at 10 p.m. from Abuja ET 957 and arrival in Addis at 5 a.m. will connect all African destinations, DXB, GRU, TLV, and some other destinations.

“We are offering these extra benefits to reward our loyal passengers, as we offer more flights and options out of Abuja.

“These extra flights help us to improve service delivery and reduce costs for travellers.

“Most of our passengers will now arrive at their destinations faster.

Ethiopian has been flying to Nigeria since 1960 and has served the market with the newest aircraft in the world, including the A350-1000 and the B787 Dreamliner.

“It connects Abuja, Lagos, Enugu, and Kano to over 150 global destinations,“ she said.

The area manager maintained that Ethiopian Airlines is introducing the new flights to support “meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE)“ events in Abuja.

According to her, Abuja is becoming an increasingly important destination for international conferences and meetings, as it hosts the largest tourism businesses globally.

“Recently, the Government of Nigeria reopened the Abuja International Conference Centre to join other facilities offered by hotels in Abuja.

“To support this growing trend, Africa’s biggest airline, Ethiopian, will be adding extra flights to Abuja,“ she said.
