Abuja:  President Bola Tinubu has reiterated Nigeria’s firm commitment to religious freedom, stating that the country remains a democracy governed by constitutional guarantees that protect citizens of all faiths.

‎In a statement on his official X handle on Saturday, @OfficialABAT, Tinubu stated that his administration had maintained open engagement with Christian and Muslim leaders since 2023, addressing security challenges affecting citizens across regions and religions.

‎He said the depiction of Nigeria as a religiously intolerant nation does not reflect the country’s reality or the government’s ongoing efforts to safeguard freedom of religion and belief for all Nigerians.

‎”Religious freedom and tolerance have been a core tenet of our collective identity and shall always remain so. Nigeria opposes religious persecution and does not encourage it,” the President said.
