NNPP Re-elects Ajuji as National Chairman at Abuja Convention

Abuja:  The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) on Saturday re-elected Dr. Ahmed Ajuji as its National Chairman during the party’s national convention in Abuja.

Ajuji, returned unopposed through a voice vote, pledged in his acceptance speech to lead the party diligently towards victory in the 2027 general elections. He urged fellow officials to view their re-election as a call to service and to uphold the oath of office they had taken.

The convention, monitored by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), also saw the re-election of Dipo Olayoku as National Secretary, alongside other national officers, all of whom were affirmed by delegates.

In his welcome remarks, Ajuji encouraged members to remain steadfast in building a strong, united, and progressive NNPP, assuring Nigerians that the party was repositioned to deliver a “fresh start and a fresh new deal.”

NNPP National Leader and former Kano State Governor, Sen. Rabiu Kwankwaso, congratulated the new executives, urging them to maintain discipline and loyalty. He noted that the performance of the NNPP-led government in Kano State was a preview of what Nigerians could expect in 2027.

Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State described the convention as a defining moment, calling for inclusivity and fairness. “Let this convention mark a new beginning for the party at all levels where no one will be left behind,” he said.

Convention Planning Committee Chairman Bala Mohammed highlighted the party’s achievements over the past four years, stressing resilience and collective commitment to NNPP ideals. He said the gathering also ratified decisions of the National Executive Committee and strengthened party unity.

Party National Adviser Magaji Ibrahim dismissed rumours of division, affirming NNPP’s cohesion under Kwankwaso’s leadership. “I can assure you, nothing shall divide the party. We stand united, solidified, going forward to 2027,” he said.

The convention concluded with the ratification of the suspension of Article 37(1) of the NNPP Constitution (2024 as amended), a move party leaders said would enhance internal cohesion.
