Lawmakers move to correct variations in gazetted versions, assure stakeholders of constitutional due process

Abuja: In a decisive move to uphold legislative integrity, the National Assembly has ordered the re‑gazetting and issuance of Certified True Copies of key tax laws following alleged discrepancies between Acts passed by the legislature and versions published in the official gazette.

Separate statements issued on Friday by House spokesman Akin Rotimi and Clerk to the National Assembly, Kamoru Ogunlana, confirmed that the affected laws include the Nigeria Tax Act 2025, the Nigeria Tax Administration Act 2025, the Joint Revenue Board of Nigeria (Establishment) Act 2025, and the Nigeria Revenue Service (Establishment) Act 2025.

The leadership acknowledged public commentary surrounding harmonisation, presidential assent, and gazetting of the Acts, but stressed that the matter is being addressed strictly within constitutional and statutory limits. An internal review is underway in line with the Constitution, the Acts Authentication Act, and established parliamentary practice.

Directing the Clerk to facilitate re‑publication, the Assembly assured stakeholders and the public that certified true copies would be made available on demand. Officials emphasised that the administrative action is intended solely to authenticate and formally reflect legislative decisions, not to concede errors or defects in legislative authority.

Reaffirming its commitment to constitutionalism, separation of powers, and due process, the National Assembly urged Nigerians to allow institutional processes to run their course without speculation or conjecture.
