Onitsha: MTN Nigeria on Friday gifted a newlywed couple in Onitsha, Anambra State, the sum of two million naira during their wedding ceremony, as part of its Y’elloTide Season of Surprises campaign.
Presenting the gift, MTN’s Chief Corporate Services and Sustainability Officer, Mr. Tobe Okigbo, said the initiative was designed to spread joy, kindness, and connection during the festive season. He described Y’elloTide as the company’s flagship yuletide experience, designed to transform ordinary moments into extraordinary celebrations for Nigerians.
Okigbo explained that MTN’s festive outreach includes paying transport fares at bus stations, visiting schools and markets to share gifts, and supporting communities in ways that promote goodwill. He stressed that marriage represents one of life’s most important connections, and MTN was delighted to celebrate the couple with a token of support.
The newlyweds, Mr. and Mrs. Chikadibia Emeremni, expressed gratitude for the surprise gesture, saying the gift made their wedding truly memorable. “We thank MTN for making this day unforgettable. We will continue to share this love and connection within our community,” they said.
