Ikom, Cross River: Senator Eteng Williams (APC–Cross River Central) has announced a donation of ₦76.5 million and 1,200 bags of rice to his constituents as part of his annual yuletide outreach.
Williams made the announcement on Friday during a tour of local government areas in his senatorial district, including Boki, Etung, Abi, Obubra, Ikom, and Yakurr.
He explained that Boki, Etung, and Abi local government area would each receive ₦12.5 million and 200 bags of rice, while Obubra, Ikom, and Yakurr would each get ₦13 million and 200 bags of rice. Beneficiaries include persons with disabilities, women, youths, support groups, traditional rulers, and other stakeholders.
The senator described the intervention as part of his commitment to easing economic pressure on constituents and sharing the dividends of democracy. He said the outreach also provided him with firsthand insight into the needs and expectations of the people.
Williams expressed gratitude for his constituents’ sustained support, assuring them of greater attention to welfare and development projects going forward.
Stakeholders across the district commended the lawmaker’s gesture, describing him as a people-centred leader with consistent grassroots engagement. In Yakurr, Council Chairman Yibala Bassey praised Williams for touring all LGAs, calling it a reflection of inclusive representation. He pledged continued support ahead of the 2027 general elections.
At Abi Council Hall, Chairman Egballa Bassey lauded the senator’s performance, noting that many youths had benefited from his scholarship scheme. He urged Williams to intensify efforts to attract development projects, particularly from the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).
In Obubra, community leader Chief Alex Ireck described the senator’s visit as reassuring and timely, expressing hope that it would open new opportunities for indigenes through local contractors. He reaffirmed the community’s support for Williams.
