Ibadan: The Oyo State Police Command has opened a full investigation into handwritten threat notes allegedly linked to suspected bandits in Ikoyi‑Ile, Orire Local Government Area.
Residents discovered two notes on Friday, placed at the front and rear of a building, warning of an impending attack reportedly scheduled for Tuesday.
Ikoyi‑Ile is among the Orire communities previously targeted, where suspected bandits killed five forest guards of Old Oyo National Park, heightening local concern over the latest threats.Police spokesperson DSP Ayanlade Olayinka confirmed the incident, stating that the individual who found the notes is being debriefed. He said the command has launched a full‑scale investigation to determine the origin and intent of the messages, and urged residents to remain vigilant while security agencies intensify efforts to safeguard the area.
