Lagos: Operatives of the Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences Unit have arrested seven suspected robbers said to be terrorising commuters on the Bolade Bridge in Oshodi.
The Lagos State Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Mr Tokunbo Wahab, confirmed this in a post shared on his X handle @tokunbo_wahab on Monday.
He said that the suspects, aged 19 to 24, were apprehended on Monday following actionable intelligence and sustained surveillance by the task force.
According to him, the arrest is part of the state government’s ongoing efforts to reclaim public spaces, protect commuters, and dismantle criminal networks operating around critical transport corridors.
“Bridges, highways, and pedestrian routes must remain safe for law-abiding Lagosians and not become havens for criminal activities,” he said.
Wahab reaffirmed the Lagos State Government’s commitment to maintaining security across major transport routes.
He said that criminal elements would continue to face decisive action from law enforcement agencies.
The commissioner disclosed that the suspects have been taken into custody and would be prosecuted in line with extant laws.
He urged members of the public to remain vigilant and continue to provide timely information to security agencies, which will aid crime prevention across the state.
