Police Intercept Vehicle Loaded with Explosives in Daura — PPRO

Katsina — Operatives of the Katsina State Police Command have intercepted a Volkswagen Golf vehicle carrying a large cache of highly explosive materials at a checkpoint in Koza, Daura Local Government Area.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Abubakar Aliyu, confirmed the interception in a statement issued on Tuesday in Katsina.

Aliyu said the vehicle was stopped during routine stop‑and‑search operations conducted by officers on duty. Upon inspection, the operatives discovered several bags containing suspected Improvised Explosive Device (IED) materials concealed inside the vehicle.

He explained that the driver of the vehicle, whose identity was not immediately disclosed, was taken into custody for further investigation. 

The suspect is currently assisting police with vital information regarding the source of the explosives, their intended destination, and possible links to criminal or terrorist groups.

The PPRO assured residents that the command remains vigilant and committed to safeguarding lives and property across Katsina State. He urged communities to continue cooperating with security agencies by reporting suspicious movements or activities.

Aliyu added that the case has been transferred to the appropriate department for discreet investigation, while the recovered materials have been secured as exhibits.
