Says milestone marks true federalism and warns against reversing autonomy in 2027
Abuja: Reno Omokri, author and political commentator, has praised President Bola Tinubu for what he described as a landmark achievement in Nigeria’s democratic journey: the direct allocation of funds to local governments nationwide.
In a statement, Omokri said the development, which he branded as part of the “Tinubu Gains” or “T-Gains,” represents a milestone of true federalism that will bring development to Nigeria’s most remote areas.
He argued that the reform ensures financial autonomy for local councils and empowers grassroots governance.
“President Bola Tinubu initiated, started, completed, and won this fight for you, as a Local Government Chairman. He achieved victory for you as a Local Government Councillor. He derived this financial breakthrough for you, as a rural man, woman, and youth,” Omokri declared.
He cautioned Nigerians against reversing these gains in the 2027 elections, warning that voting for leaders who do not share Tinubu’s vision for local government autonomy would erode progress.
“Do not bite the hand that fed you by voting for the hand that will remove food from your mouths. Stick with your liberator and your remunerator. Follow the man who turned your treasury from something hollow to something you can hallow.
Follow President Bola Tinubu till the end,” he said.
Omokri, who has styled himself as a “Gospeller” and “#TableShaker,” framed the reform as a turning point for grassroots development in Nigeria, urging citizens to consolidate the autonomy gains rather than risk division.
