Uganda’s President Museveni Secures Seventh Term, Electoral Commission Confirms

Uganda: Uganda’s Electoral Commission has announced that President Yoweri Museveni has been re-elected, extending his decades-long rule into a seventh term.

Yoweri Museveni, now 81, first became Uganda’s president in January 1986 and has just secured a seventh term in the 2026 election, winning with 58.38% of the vote, according to the Electoral Commission.
