Katsina (Nigeria): The ICPC has begun Phase 8 of its Constituency and Executive Projects Tracking in Katsina, scrutinising 39 projects worth N13.5 billion.

Mr Ludam Samuel, the Resident Anti-Corruption Commissioner in the state, disclosed in a statement in Katsina on Friday that the exercise covers the three Senatorial Districts and Federal Constituencies.

He stated that the exercise demonstrates the commission’s commitment to transparency, accountability and prudent use of public funds.

Collaboration has been integral to the tracking team’s efforts. Working alongside the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (NIQS) and media members, the team aims to ensure value for money and strict adherence to project specifications.

“So far, the team has inspected multiple health facility projects within the Katsina metropolis, noting improvements in local medical access, alongside key road projects in Funtua and Kankia that are expected to ease transportation challenges.

“Water supply schemes were also monitored in Kurfi, Dutsin-Ma, Mashi and Dutsi to assess their role in improving community access to clean water and their operational status.

“In the education sector, school-based projects in Kafur, Sandamu, Daura and Mai’Adua were examined to assess improvements in learning environments and educational opportunities for students,” the resident commissioner said.

According to him, the team further evaluated the installation of solar-powered street lights to determine their contribution to public safety and reviewed various empowerment programmes implemented across the state to gauge their effect on community livelihoods.

Samuel stated that the exercise advances the ICPC’s nationwide mandate to ensure that constituency and executive projects funded with public resources are properly executed and deliver tangible benefits to citizens.

He further reaffirmed that the commission will strengthen oversight and promote integrity in public service delivery.
