In Abuja, the Nigerian Army will enhance professional military education by collaborating with the Defence Security Cooperation University (DSCU) in the United States, aiming to develop leadership, strategic skills, and international cooperation.
On Friday in Abuja, the Chief of Army Staff, Waidi Shaibu, received a delegation from the DSCU Nigeria Programme at Army Headquarters. In his statement, he outlined the Nigerian Army’s intentions.
According to Shaibu, professional military education is critical to building a modern, adaptive, mission-ready force capable of addressing Nigeria’s evolving security challenges.
“The Nigerian Army will continue participating in DSCU programmes focused on defence management, logistics systems and institutional capacity development,” he said.
He added that specialised and international training sharpens strategic thinking and strengthens defence management.

According to Casteyanoss, DSCU provides specialised courses as well as advisory support in defence governance, logistics management, and policy development.
He added that collaboration supports institutional systems, including material readiness, reporting mechanisms, and life-cycle management frameworks within the Army.
“Continued participation in DSCU programmes will enhance professional standards and long-term capability development,” Casteyanoss said.
