The Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS) has extended the individual annual income tax filing deadline to April 21, 2026, and officials state there will be no further extensions.

Mr Ayodele Subair, LIRS Executive Chairman, confirmed this in a statement issued on Saturday by Monsurat Amasa-Oyelude, Head of Corporate Communications.

Subair said the extension followed an earlier shift to April 14, citing increased traffic on the electronic tax platform as taxpayers rushed to comply.

He explained that the decision was intended to give taxpayers additional time to complete their filings successfully.

He said the extension is due to high compliance and to improve convenience.

Subair stressed that annual income tax returns are mandatory and urged taxpayers to use this final extension.

He emphasised that all returns must be filed electronically via the designated eTax platform, available at https://etax.lirs.net.ng, the state government’s official online portal for tax return submissions.

The chairman reaffirmed that the eTax platform, accessible through https://etax.lirs.net.ng on the official government website, is the only approved channel for submitting tax returns in Lagos.

He suggested that taxpayers needing help contact any LIRS office or official channels.
