Lagos: Select employees of Lekki Deep Sea Port returned from intensive training in China, now armed with advanced expertise in port management, logistics, and infrastructure—as the port intensifies efforts to develop a world-class workforce.
Lekki Port management issued this statement to newsmen on Saturday in Lagos.
The initiative is designed to hone technical abilities, boost operational performance, and immerse staff in global port management practices.
Chosen employees attended training in China, where they examined state-of-the-art port infrastructure and logistics.
The programme spotlighted leading-edge practices and the use of next-generation technology in port operations.
Participants later shared insights from the training in a knowledge-sharing session.
The session promoted knowledge exchange and fostered organisational growth.
Speaking at the session, the Managing Director of Lekki Port, Mr Wang Qiang, commended the Chinese Consulate for its support of the initiative.
Qiang said the training greatly expanded staff expertise and capability.
Collaboration is central to Lekki Port’s business model. We will continue to promote initiatives that strengthen operations and global perspective,” he said.
China’s Consul General in Nigeria, Ms Yan Yuqing, said the programme demonstrates China’s commitment to strong bilateral cooperation.
Yuqing emphasised that the initiative fosters knowledge sharing, cultural understanding, and lasting institutional partnerships.
She called participants ambassadors of China-Nigeria relations, expecting them to apply their new knowledge to drive organisational development.
Participant Mr Matthew Oloyede said the programme gave valuable international insight into port operations.
Oloyede noted that the acquired expertise will enhance efficiency, improve collaboration, and elevate service at the port.
