SuperSport Assures Fans Full Access to Expanded FIFA World Cup

Lagos: SuperSport will broadcast all 104 matches of the 2026 FIFA World Cup live on DStv and GOtv, making it the most accessible tournament yet across Africa.

Company executives said this bold move will supercharge reach, creating Africa’s most vibrant and inclusive World Cup viewing celebration.

The announcement came on Friday during a media briefing moderated by Sibusiso Mjikeliso. Chief executive Rendani Ramovha gave keynote remarks outlining coverage plans.

The United States, Canada, and Mexico will host the tournament from June 11 to July 19.

The expanded competition will feature 48 nations for the first time, marking a significant shift in global football’s showpiece event.

Ramovha noted Africa will send a record 10 teams, calling it “a major moment for African football.”

The qualified teams include Ghana, South Africa, Senegal, Cape Verde, Côte d’Ivoire, Egypt, Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia and DR Congo.

Ramovha said, “Our coverage is built on four pillars: unmatched scale, accessibility, African pride, and participation.”

“This is about proudly announcing Africa’s presence on the global stage with world-class, exhilarating broadcasting.

“For the first time, all matches are available to all subscription tiers, expanding access across the continent,” Ramovha said.

He confirmed SuperSport will create four dedicated World Cup channels and deliver coverage in English and Portuguese.

He added that broadcasts would be available in seven languages, reflecting Africa’s diverse audiences and strengthening engagement.

“Viewers will also enjoy expanded preview shows, live events, and studio programming throughout the tournament. There will be special features as well.

“We’ll deliver features tailored to unique cultures and local African languages,” Ramovha said.

He said the campaign theme, ‘Everything Else Can Wait’, reflects the tournament’s scale and significance.

The campaign burst to life with a jaw-dropping on-air appearance by Idris Elba, thrilling viewers as he confirmed that every match would air live on DStv and GOtv.

The broadcaster teased even more star-studded appearances, exciting studio guests and game-changing partnerships to come during the tournament build-up.

With Africa sending its most powerful delegation yet, SuperSport is gearing up for an unforgettable, history-making broadcast spectacle.
