Abuja: INEC Chairman Prof. Joash Amupitan has hailed the integrity and dedication of Nigeria’s electoral workers, declaring that every ballot processed and result transmitted is a testament to the honour of the nation’s workforce.
In his Workers’ Day address in Abuja on Friday, Amupitan urged staff to uphold professionalism and unity as the backbone of credible elections.
In his address entitled “The Dignity of Service.” Amupitan described the commission’s 14,000 employees as the silent engine driving Nigeria’s democracy forward.
He said the nation’s stability rests on the dedication of electoral workers. He praised their administrative excellence during the recent Federal Capital Territory Area Council elections.
He said recent success was built on staff collaboration, effort, and commitment to standards.
The chairman noted that, despite recent achievements, electoral work requires constant preparation. This is especially important ahead of the coming off-cycle governorship elections in Ekiti and Osun states and during the implementation of the 2027 roadmap.
“I encourage you to remain the reliable professionals the nation expects. Our role goes beyond logistics; it involves trust, integrity, and accountability,” Amupitan said.
“Every ballot processed and every result transmitted demonstrates the integrity of the Nigerian worker,” he said, encouraging staff to maintain credible and transparent electoral processes nationwide.
Amupitan reaffirmed a commitment to transform INEC into a modern workplace. He said staff welfare and digital empowerment are priorities. He committed to supporting efficient and transparent election management at all levels.
He pledged that only merit would drive career advancement. He said staff would be equipped and motivated to meet modern demands in election administration.
The INEC boss urged staff to use the May Day holiday for reflection and to strengthen solidarity. He emphasised unity and shared purpose in delivering credible elections that inspire public confidence nationwide.
“We are one team, bound by one mission: to deliver an electoral process beyond reproach. Your labour shall not be in vain,” he said, linking credible elections to national prosperity.
