Abuja: The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has forecast widespread haziness and thunderstorms from Sunday to Tuesday. It cautions residents to brace for shifting weather across the country.
NiMet’s weather outlook, released Saturday in Abuja, predicted moderate dust haze over the northern and North-Central regions on Sunday. Visibility will range from 2 to 5 kilometres, with some areas in Katsina, Kano, and Jigawa States at 1,000 metres or less.
Parts of Katsina, Kano, and Jigawa States will see localised visibility as low as 1,000 metres throughout the forecast.
The North-Central region will also experience moderate dust haze during the period.
Sunny skies with some clouds are likely in the south. Lagos, Bayelsa, Delta, Rivers, Cross River, and Akwa Ibom may see afternoon or evening thunderstorms and light rain.
According to NiMet, moderate dust haze is expected over the northern and North-Central regions on Monday, with continued impacts throughout the forecast period.
NiMet forecasts sunny skies with scattered clouds over the south. There are slim chances of isolated thunderstorms and light rain over Ondo, Bayelsa, Rivers, Delta, and Edo States later in the day.
On Tuesday, the agency predicted a slight dust haze specifically over the northern region during the forecast period.
A moderate dust haze will persist over the North-Central region on Tuesday, affecting visibility.
The agency forecasts sunny skies with scattered clouds in the south. There are slim chances of isolated thunderstorms and light rain over Lagos, Edo, Delta, and Bayelsa States later in the day.
