Sango-Ota, Ogun State: The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ogun Command, has confirmed that three people lost their lives and one was injured in a Sunday accident involving a Lexus Jeep and a Boxer motorcycle along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway near Sango‑Ota.
The FRSC Sector Commander, Oludare Ogunjobi, confirmed the accident in a statement signed by the Command’s Spokesperson, Mr Odunsi Afolabi, in Abeokuta.
Afolabi explained that the accident involving eight male adults occurred at about 1.04 p.m. on Sunday at the Oniworo area on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
He added that the crash involved a blue Lexus Jeep, specifically identified by registration number GGE 18 JV, and an unregistered black Boxer motorcycle.
Afolabi said that three people lost their lives in the crash, while one other sustained various injuries.
“The corpses of the victims have been taken to the FOS morgue, Opara, while the survivors were taken to Victory Hospital, Ogere, for treatment,” he said.
Afolabi attributed the crash to speeding and a burst tyre.
He said that the FRSC Ogunmakin Unit had cleared obstructions to restore traffic flow, and that the vehicles had been moved to the MTD Alapako Police station for further investigation.
Afolabi quoted the sector commander as sending his condolences to the families of deceased victims and praying that God would grant them the fortitude to bear their losses.
He further advised motorists to always adhere to speed limits, regularly check their vehicle tyres and other safety mechanisms, and ensure their vehicles are roadworthy before any trip to prevent unnecessary accidents and save lives.
