FG: Kano–Maradi Rail Project 60% Complete

The Federal Government reports that 60 per cent of the Kaduna–Kano–Jigawa–Katsina–Maradi railway project is now complete.

During a recent inspection tour in Jigawa, led by the Presidential Media Team, Mr Ali Bukar, Resident Engineer, shared firsthand insights into Section Two’s development.

Leading the visit was Sunday Dare, Special Adviser to the President, who engaged directly with the engineering team and local stakeholders.

The update was shared on Sunday by Mr Abiodun Oladunjoye, State House Director of Information and Public Relations.

The inspection is part of an ongoing assessment of government projects in the North-West, led by the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, in collaboration with Gov. Hope Uzodimma.

Bukar said the project was progressing. Bukar emphasised that dedicated teams are driving steady progress across two major corridors, aiming to deliver a completed railway by December 2027 intensified along the Kano–Dutse axis, especially on bridge works across waterways and difficult terrain.

According to him, piling and substructure works for multiple bridges have reached advanced stages, and crews are actively installing superstructures at numerous sites also recorded along the 104-kilometre Kano–Jigawa corridor and the branch line linking Kano to Dutse.

He added that track laying, earthworks, and structural installations continue to move forward, with teams building momentum each week. funded under the Renewed Hope Infrastructure Scheme of President Bola Tinubu.

The team also visited projects in Kano and Jigawa, including the Tal-Udu flyover and a concrete irrigation project from Kapin Chiri Dam.

In Dutse, the team visited the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Skills Centre and inspected state-procured tractors supporting agriculture.
