Fuel Crisis Derails Davido: Star’s No-Show Sparks Outrage

Davido, the Grammy-nominated singer, apologised to fans for missing his Lagos show due to fuel shortages at the airport.

He was scheduled to perform with Zlatan Ibile at Secret Place, Ikate Elegushi, on Sunday for the club’s fifth anniversary. This marked another setback in his recent scheduling issues.

Fans were disappointed when Davido did not appear at the anticipated show.

The next day, he explained on Instagram that fuel shortages prevented him from travelling. “The world happened to me yesterday.

These wars have started to affect us. Finding fuel, even to fly, was a problem. Everything had to be rescheduled,” he wrote.

Davido apologised and promised to make it up to his fans: To my fans that pulled up… sorry I missed it. We’ll run it back soon.” He also congratulated the organisers and pledged future support.

This is the latest in a series of missed performances. In Nigeria, Davido has had to miss shows in Port Harcourt and Abuja due to health and travel issues.

He has also cancelled shows in the United States and the United Kingdom, including a well-known New York no-show in 2017 and a London cancellation in 2019, both due to scheduling problems.

Each time, fans were frustrated, but Davido always apologised and promised to reschedule.

The Lagos cancellation occurred amid global fuel supply issues, particularly affecting airlines. High costs and shortages have disrupted flights worldwide, now reaching Nigeria’s entertainment scene.

Even superstar performers are affected, showing how interconnected and fragile the industry is.

While fans may recover, this highlights the unexpected challenges artists face and the need for resilient live event solutions.
