Oyo Extends Curfew in 10 LGAs amid Security Crackdown

Gov Makinde

Ibadan: The Oyo State government has extended by 24 hours the 48‑hour curfew imposed on 10 local government areas bordering the Old Oyo National Park.

The extension was announced Thursday evening in Ibadan by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Musibau Babatunde, through an official memo.

The curfew, which initially ran from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. daily, was introduced on Tuesday to curb kidnapping and other security threats in communities around the park. With the latest directive, restrictions will now remain in force until Saturday.

The affected LGAs are: Oriire, Orelope, Irepo, Saki West, Saki East, Atisbo, Itesiwaju, Iseyin, Olorunsogo, and Atiba.

Officials say the measure is part of intensified efforts to restore safety and stability in the region, which has faced rising insecurity in recent months.
