White House Rejects Nuclear Strike Speculation

by Toye Faleye

The White House has denied reports that the United States is considering using nuclear weapons against Iran as President Donald Trump’s deadline for Tehran draws near.

Officials said no decision has been made about escalating the situation.

Trump warned that “a whole civilisation will die tonight” if Iran did not reopen the Strait of Hormuz and meet U.S. demands. This statement raised fears about possible nuclear escalation.

Vice President JD Vance said that Washington still has “options not yet decided to use.” Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt repeated that nuclear strikes are not being considered. “Only the president knows what actions may follow,” she said.

The ultimatum focuses on Iran’s blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, which is a key route for global oil shipments.

Legal experts warn that any U.S. attack on civilian infrastructure could be considered a war crime. Iran has responded strongly.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said it would strike back if there is any attack on civilian targets and warned that its response could reach “beyond the region.”

Meanwhile, U.S. and Israeli forces have launched more strikes on Iranian military sites, including Kharg Island, as the conflict moves into a new stage.

Iran and its allies have responded with counterattacks across the Middle East, raising fears of a larger regional conflict.
