Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda Clinches APC Chairmanship

Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, has been elected as the new chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Yilwatda emerged as the new chairman of the party following a unanimous vote by the National Executive Committee (NEC) on Thursday.

He replaced Dr Abdullahi Ganduje, who resigned due to personal issues.

The new chairman is a distinguished academic, a visionary leader, and a passionate advocate for humanitarian and poverty reduction initiatives.

Born on August 8, 1968, in Dungung, Kanke Local Government Area of Plateau State, he is the son of the late Rev. Toma Yilwatda.

Yilwatda’s academic journey led him to obtain his first degree from the Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi, and he also holds a master’s degree from Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), as well as a doctorate from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, specialising in Electronic and Computer Engineering.

In 2017, he was appointed as a Resident Electoral Commissioner (INEC).

In 2021, he contested as the Plateau State governorship candidate under the APC. Also, he served as the Coordinator of the Tinubu/Shettima Campaign Organisation in Plateau State during the 2023 General Elections.
