Yobe: NDLEA Recovers 1.4kg of Cannabis, Arrests Two Suspects

Damaturu (Nigeria): The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has apprehended a female suspect for allegedly having 39 parcels of cannabis in Damaturu, Yobe.

Mr Bello Wakirwa, the spokesman for the agency, stated this in a press release on Monday in Damaturu.

He said operatives of the agency detained the suspect (name withheld) on Sept. 27, during a routine stop-and-search operation on the Damaturu – Maiduguri Highway.

“The recovered drug is a highly potent synthetic strain of cannabis weighing 1.4 kilogrammes.

“The illicit substance was carefully concealed inside the casing of her travelling bag in an attempt to evade detection,” he said.

He said a swift follow-up operation by operatives of the agency led to the arrest of a second female suspect (name withheld) in connection with the crime.

“She was apprehended at her residence on Baga Road, Maiduguri, and is currently assisting investigators with further inquiries,” Wakirwa said.

He said the agency would leave no stone unturned to rid the state of illicit drug peddling.
