Akure, Ondo State (Nigeria): Tensions flared during the New Yam Festival in Idogun community as irate youths violently attacked the wife and son of Oba Moses Bakare, the Onidogun of Idogun.
The irate youths allegedly launched a violent attack on the wife of Oba Moses Bakare, the Onidogun of Idogun and his son, Prince Victor Bakare.
It was gathered that the incident occurred at the Ishara Quarters of Idogun community when the prince visited his parents to join in the celebration of the New Yam Festival.
DSP Olushola Ayanlade, the command’s spokesperson, who confirmed the incident to reporters, said the police would unravel the circumstances surrounding the attack on the traditional ruler’s family in the community.
“Yes, the prince and his mother were attacked by irate youths. The case is under investigation, and we are leaving no stone unturned in ensuring that justice is served,” he said.
Meanwhile, Bakare (Prince), while speaking with reporters on the incident, said the irate youths inflicted injuries on him.
