Kaduna Police Bust Gunrunning, Cattle Rustling Rings; 7 Suspects Arrested

Kaduna: The Kaduna State Police Command has arrested seven suspects linked to gunrunning, cattle rustling, attempted murder, and motorcycle theft in a series of coordinated operations across the state.

Command spokesperson DSP Mansir Hassan, in a statement on Friday, said operatives recovered a fabricated AK‑47 rifle, a pump‑action gun, live ammunition, three stolen cows, and two motorcycles during the raids.

Among those arrested was Saleh Ibrahim of Sabon Gayan Village, who was intercepted with three stolen cattle in Bakura Forest, Kagarko. Investigations revealed he was notorious for rustling along the Kaduna–Niger axis, and his late father was a known bandit neutralised six years ago.

In Zaria, police surveillance teams arrested Mohammad Hussaini, who confessed to conspiring with accomplices to steal motorcycles. Two stolen bikes were recovered, while alleged receivers remain at large.

Elsewhere in Birnin Gwari, operatives nabbed Basiru Musa and Yushau Yusuf with a fabricated AK‑47 and pump‑action gun. The suspects named an alleged supplier in Niger State, with investigations ongoing.

In Kauru, police arrested two brothers, Benjamin Sunday (alias “Tigo”) and Monday Auta, for threatening their father with a dane gun after breaking into his home.Commissioner of Police Rabiu Muhammad reaffirmed the command’s resolve to sustain aggressive patrols and joint operations across border communities, vowing that criminals exploiting inter‑state boundaries would be relentlessly tracked and brought to justice.
