Abuja: Abubakar Atiku Abubakar, son of former Vice President and 2023 PDP presidential candidate, has defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), pledging full support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s second-term agenda.

His political structure, formerly the Haske Atiku Organisation, was officially rebranded as the Haske Bola Tinubu Organisation, signaling a complete realignment ahead of the 2027 elections.

The defection, announced Thursday at the National Assembly, was received by Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin and APC leaders from the North-East.

Abba described the move as “personal and historic,” directing all coordinators of his group to join the APC and work for Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Party leaders hailed the development as symbolic and far-reaching, with Senator Barau calling it “bold, wise, and principled.” A

PC’s North-East Vice Chairman Mustapha Salihu said the defection reflected “politics without borders,” while a presidential aide assured Abba of Tinubu’s full acceptance and support.

Abba’s decision, influenced by Tinubu’s reforms and Barau’s leadership, is seen as a major boost to the APC’s consolidation drive ahead of 2027.
