Lagos: The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) reports it facilitated the export of over 500,000 tonnes of petroleum products from Dangote Refinery to African countries in March.
NPA Managing Director, Dr Abubakar Dantsoho, disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday by Mr Ikechukwu Onyemekara, General Manager (Corporate Communications and Strategy).
Dantsoho spoke at a stakeholders’ engagement organised by the Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy in Lagos.
He stated that, while the Middle East conflict has disrupted global vessel movements, Nigeria has maintained domestic and export petroleum product supply.
He credited this success to the implementation of the One-Stop-Shop (OSS), introduced by the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Dr Adegboyega Oyetola.
According to him, the OSS is a unified platform integrating all essential agencies and service providers, enabling them to process documentation and approvals in a single location.
This ensures all stakeholders at the Dangote Refinery operate in sync. “In several countries, workers function remotely or face energy shortages, but Nigeria has not encountered such operational difficulties.”
Over 500,000 tonnes of petroleum products have been exported from Dangote Refinery to African countries in the past month.
Exports are carried out by ships supported by NPA’s port and cargo services. He explained that the policies facilitating these exports were authorised by the minister, including the OSS managed by the NPA.
“This system operates similarly to the National Single Window by streamlining procedures and facilitating coordination among port stakeholders, which ensures efficiency and smooth export operations,” he said.
Dantsoho noted that all stakeholders now operate in sync with Dangote Refinery’s distribution framework.
