Bauchi: Yusuf Tuggar, Nigeria’s former Foreign Minister, has announced his bid for Bauchi governor in 2027, unveiling a bold agenda for progress and reform.

He said this while addressing party supporters at a political rally on Saturday in Bauchi.

Tuggar said he would contest the election under the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC), to bring positive change to the state.

He outlined a 10-point agenda focused on sustainable social and economic development, including growth in key sectors like the economy, agriculture, health, education, empowerment, innovation, clean energy, infrastructure, anti-corruption, and welfare.

He emphasised digital innovation, clean energy, infrastructure, anti-corruption, and improved worker welfare as priorities.

Tuggar said that if elected, he would initiate sound programmes to promote youth-inclusive governance and encourage community policing through collaboration with the government, security agencies, community and religious leaders to foster peace and stability in the state.

“I’m here for service, not power,” Tuggar said.

“My goal is to build on our leaders’ legacies and advance the state,” he added.

He therefore sought the support of the stakeholders to enable him to secure the party’s ticket to run as its gubernatorial flagbearer.

Sen. Sams’ila Dahuwa (APC – Bauchi North) stated that the members of the national assembly from Bauchi State have endorsed Tuggar’s candidature as the party’s preferred candidate.

Dahuwa said the lawmakers believed that Tuggar possessed the capacity, experience and respect to win the election and deliver.

APC is a party of change. Let’s support Tuggar,” Dahuwa urged.

“All candidates will get a level playing ground,” Yiltwada assured.

Yiltwada urged candidates to follow party protocols and respect leadership.

He also encouraged voters to register and get their PVCs.
