Kano: Bayero University, Kano (BUK), has announced an extension of the NELFUND loan application period for the 2025/2026 academic session, giving students more time to complete their submissions.
This was stated in a bulletin, signed by Lamara Garba, Director of Public Affairs, and sent to newsmen in Kano on Saturday.
Garba said the NELFUND portal was reopened and the deadline extended at the university management’s request. Students can now apply from May 8 to 29.
This reopening is the final chance for eligible students who have completed their screening to visit http://portal.nelf.gov.ng and apply for both institutional charges and upkeep.
Applicants must follow the application procedures and upload the required documents on the portal.
Garba said all documents must be properly uploaded to prevent delays or disqualification.
Applications for institutional charges and upkeep must be submitted together; separate applications may not be processed.
He discouraged the use of microfinance bank wallet accounts, such as Opay and Moniepoint, for the application.
Applicants should ensure their email addresses are correct and that they can access them throughout the application process.
Passwords must be kept secure and remembered, as they are needed to access the portal and track the application status.
Garba urged all eligible students to take this final opportunity to complete their applications before the deadline.
