Kyiv, Dnipro, and Kharkiv Were Hit as President Zelensky Warned of a “Massive new Strike”
Authorities said Tuesday that a Russian missile and drone attack overnight killed nine people and wounded dozens across Ukraine.
Explosions in Kyiv caused fires and power outages. Officials confirmed three deaths as residents hurried to shelters while smoke filled the city center.
Dnipro suffered one of the deadliest strikes, with four people killed, including a 73-year-old woman, and 16 wounded, according to Governor Oleksandr Ganzha. Eight people were injured in Kharkiv’s Slobidsky district.
The attacks happened just days after President Zelensky warned about a possible “massive new strike.” He again called for more Patriot missiles and stressed the importance of Ukraine’s air defense readiness.
Ukraine has recently increased retaliatory strikes on occupied territories and inside Russia. After these actions, a Ukrainian drone attack in Kursk killed one person, according to regional governor Alexander Khinshtein.
With negotiations stalled and the war intensifying, the overnight attacks highlight the conflict’s instability and the growing number of civilian casualties.
