Abuja: The National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA) has congratulated Comptroller-General of the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS), Bashir Adeniyi, on his election as the Chairman of the World Customs Organisation (WCO) Council.
Adeniyi was recently elected as the WCO Chairman at its meeting held in Brussels, Belgium.
Prof. Innocent Barikor, the Director–General of NESREA, in a congratulatory message on Wednesday in Abuja, said Adeniyi’s elevation validated his impressive track record as an accomplished leader with impeccable qualities.
“Adeniyi’s elevation to the head of the highest decision-making body in the global customs organisation, comprising 186 customs administrations around the world, validates his impressive track record as an accomplished leader with impeccable qualities.
“He has recreated the NCS, infusing the needed innovation and modernisation to achieve remarkable progress in the operations of the service at various borders across the country and setting a standard in excellence and commitment to duty,” he said.
Barikor stated that Adeniyi’s belief in inter-agency collaboration had strengthened the partnership between NESREA and NCS in preventing environmental crimes from being exploited at Nigeria’s borders.
“There is no doubt that his latest achievement is a pointer to greater feats ahead of this consummate professional. On behalf of NESREA, I wish him resounding success in his new role,” he said.
