Aba: It was football at its grittiest and most tactical as Enyimba International FC of Aba and KMK FC Academy of Uyo locked horns in a tension-soaked encounter that ended in a 1–1 draw at the Aba Centre during the seventh edition of the TICO/SELECT inter-state football tournament.
Both sides showcased resilience, strategy, and flashes of brilliance that kept fans on edge from kickoff to the final whistle.
With the result, KMK FC top the table for Aba Centre with eight points after four matches, while Enyimba followed with seven points after three games.
In a post-match interview, Coach Prince Usen of KMK FC praised his team for their good display against Enyimba, saying that they could have won the match.
Usen said that his team played to instructions and that he changed his formation with suitable players who could give him a result, in line with the tactics he used in the match.
“As I said on Monday, every match has its gameplan and tactics, that was why I used different players with different tactics to grind out a respectable result.
In other matches of the day, Inter Aba FC played out a 0-0 draw with Kun Khalifat FC of Owerri, and the game between Heartland of Owerri and Excellent FC of Delta ended goalless.
The tournament, which started on Aug. 2, takes place in Enugu and Aba Centres and will end on Aug. 9.
