Abuja: The Nigerian Army has detained blogger Mark Chidiebere, popularly known as “Justice Crack,” along with several soldiers, over allegations of incitement and spreading misinformation.
This was stated Saturday in Abuja by Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Col. Appolonia Anele.
Anele said the arrests occurred after the blogger shared complaints on social media regarding soldiers’ feeding conditions and welfare concerns.
She said initial investigations showed that the blogger allegedly discussed with soldiers creating discontent within the ranks.
“Some of these exchanges are seen as subversive,” Anele said.
She stated such acts threaten military discipline and national security.
According to her, both the blogger and the soldiers involved were arrested at the same time to support ongoing investigations.
Anele said the soldiers were being handled in accordance with military procedures and regulations.
She added that after the arrests, the blogger was transferred to civil authorities for further investigation and possible prosecution.
“The Nigerian Army remains committed to the rule of law and due process,” she said.
She said the Army will work with other agencies to ensure justice.
