Violence Erupts in Wike’s Faction During PDP Oyo Congress

On Saturday, hoodlums disrupted the local government congress of the Mr Nyesom Wike faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), causing destruction of property and injuries.

Furthermore, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that party members were attacked at Bodija, Ibadan North Local Government Area, and allegedly, at other venues of the congress across the state.

In addition, according to a member of the faction, Mr Julius Adekunle, the hoodlums attacked almost all the designated venues of the congresses across the state.

He stated, “This was a planned attack. The hoodlums struck at many venues across the state, leaving little doubt about their intent.

Adekunle added, “Reports from Ogbomoso North, Ibarapa Central, Akinyele, and Ibadan North LGAs showed widespread violence. Not less than 10 of our members were attacked at the congress.

He continued, Many vehicles were vandalised. Other property belonging to our members also suffered damage.

Adekunle further noted, “The hoodlums also invaded the house of our party leader, Chief Hazeem Gbolarunmi, at Bodija, where property worth millions of naira was vandalised.”

Prof. Abdulrahman Akinoso, the faction’s state Chairman, confirmed the incident. He expressed concern about the development.

Akinoso described the incident as chaotic and called on security operatives to ensure those responsible were arrested and held accountable.
