Indonesia will launch a 26.34 trillion rupiah (US$1.5 billion) stimulus package in the second half of 2026 to bolster economic growth, anchored by one of the country’s largest food assistance programs to date.
Nearly 68% of the package is dedicated to food aid, including the distribution of 10-kilogram rice packages to 33 million residents starting next month. The government has earmarked 17.54 trillion rupiah for this initiative, according to CNBC Indonesia.
Beyond food support, the package also covers discounts on air, rail, and sea transportation, a paid internship program, and government coverage of value-added tax on airline tickets, Chief Economic Minister Airlangga Hartarto announced Monday.
The rollout follows earlier stimulus measures in the first quarter of 2026, when Jakarta spent 15 trillion rupiah on food assistance and fiscal support. The government is targeting economic growth of at least 5.4% this year, up from 5.11% in 2025.
